Prepare Week
Reminder: Club time is designed to last 25-30 min. If your Club has less time, adapt the guide to best fit what your Club specifically needs. Use the Holy Spirit’s guidance to discern what is best to cover during the time you have.
Resources Needed: My Faith Story Sheet or other Gospel materials.
Verses to have ready: Romans 1:16 and Matthew 5:14-16.
Student Testimonies: Some students may be ready to share their Faith Story after last month’s writing. Follow up with them, and if anyone is unsure how to start, or maybe how to finish, consider having 1-2 Student Leaders share as an example. This is the last PREPARE Week this semester. Be sure students are feeling confident and ready to go out and share their testimony during the last INVITE Week and at any given opportunity during the summer break!
Key Takeaway: Sharing your Faith Story is a powerful way to witness to others, focusing on your life before Christ, how you encountered Jesus, and how He has transformed your life. When you share your story, be sure to include the Gospel, as it’s the message of hope and transformation that others need to hear. Be bold in sharing your faith, as it can bring light and hope to those around you.
Student Leader Roles:
- Promo – Promote the Club through social media, announcements, and any other outlets the school allows.
- Welcome – Stand at the door and welcome students to the Club as they arrive. Be sure to connect any new students to the Club and leadership so they feel like they have a place.
- Host – Start the Club with the Welcome, Prayer, Game (if applicable), and Memory Verse.
- Speaker – Lead the Club through Tool Time, and Dig In, using the EPIC Guide, and any supporting materials.
- Follow-up – Follow up with new (or newer) students, and students who accepted Christ for the first time or want to know more. This role requires follow-up every week, not just after INVITE Weeks.
HOST | STARTUP – 2 MINUTES
Welcome: Welcome to First Priority! We are so glad that you have chosen to join us today! Our focus this month is “Personal Evangelism.” Today is PREPARE Week where we will be preparing to share our stories and the Gospel of Jesus with others. As we begin the Club, we want to challenge you to be bold for the cause of Christ.
Let’s start today’s Club with prayer.
Opening Prayer: God, thank you for another great week that we get to be here at First Priority! I am thankful for those who are here today and thankful for your love for each of us! Thank you for the privilege of prayer. I pray that we would be found faithful to pray for our friends to know you. Give us the strength to speak out. In Jesus name, Amen.
Game – Optional (if time allows): Feel free to select a game that fits your needs best! Click here to see the list of games available.
MEMORY VERSE: Romans 1:16(NIV) – “For I am not ashamed of the Gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.”
Student Testimony – Optional: If you have 2 students sharing testimony this week, you will not have time for much else. That is okay. Testimonies can be life-changing (both for the speaker and listener) and that is why we are here.
SPEAKER | TOOL TIME – 10 MINUTES
Let’s spend some time preparing to do our part to reach our campus for Christ.
Learning to share your Story: Use the My Faith Story Sheet.
Leader Tip: Have Student Leaders hand out the My Faith Story Sheet.
Let’s take a moment to talk about how you can share your Faith Story. It can be very simple! Using the My Faith Story Sheet, it guides you to focus on three parts: your life before Christ, how you encountered Jesus, and your life since knowing Him.
Start with what life was like without Christ—your struggles or things that felt missing. Then, talk about the moment Jesus became real to you—through an event, a person, or a realization. Finally, share how He’s transformed your life—how faith gives you hope and direction now.
When we share our story of how God has saved and transformed us, we always need to share how God can do the same for others. This means we should always share the story of the Gospel when we have a chance to share our testimony.
Today, let’s focus on when, in our story, we should add the story of the Gospel.
For many, the simplest place in their story to share the Gospel is during the second part…the moment Jesus became real to them. While describing the time when they understood the Gospel, they share the Good News.
It would go something like this (Using The FOUR): “It was during a VBS when I was 10 that I learned that God loved me and wanted a relationship with me. I then realized that I had sinned and was separated from Him. But, the teacher told me about Jesus dying on the Cross to rescue me! That’s when I accepted His free gift and found forgiveness and new life.”
You may find that the Gospel fits better in a different part of your story.
Remember, your story is powerful because it’s about a powerful God and the Good News that He brings. Take some time to pray and think through where the Gospel fits best in your story. Then share it with someone here—it might be exactly what they need to hear!
Leader Tip: Give students time to work on and discuss their stories and have Student Leaders help those who may be new to this. Encourage students to practice sharing their stories with a friend in the Club. If time is limited, make sure students finish writing out their stories at home.
SPEAKER | DIG IN: BOLD WITNESSES: SHARING YOUR FAITH – 9 MINUTES
We are going to dig into the Word of God in the book of Joshua.
Matthew 5:14-16(NIV) – 14 “you are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Imagine that you’re standing at the edge of a beautiful ocean, surrounded by people who have never experienced its vastness and the refreshing waves. You have just discovered a hidden treasure, a precious pearl of truth that has transformed your life. You could keep this treasure to yourself, quietly cherishing its beauty, but as you look around, you see others who are desperately searching for meaning, purpose, and hope. Suddenly, a realization dawns upon you. You have the opportunity to share this priceless treasure with them, to introduce them to the One who can satisfy their deepest longings and bring them everlasting joy. The question is, will you take the bold step to share your faith?
As students, we have a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on our peers, teachers, and communities. God calls us to be bold witnesses, shining His light and sharing the hope we have found in Him. But why is it important for us to share our faith?
Reflecting God’s Love:
By sharing our faith, we reflect God’s love to those around us. Just as a lamp illuminates a dark room, our lives can radiate the truth, grace, and compassion of Christ. People may be observing us, searching for something genuine and life-changing. When we share our faith, we help them encounter the transforming power of God’s love.
Offering Hope:
The world is filled with brokenness, despair, and confusion. As believers, we have a message of hope that can bring healing and restoration. By sharing our faith, we extend a lifeline to those who are lost, giving them the opportunity to find purpose, forgiveness, and eternal life in Jesus Christ. Our willingness to share can inspire others to seek God for themselves.
Fulfilling the Great Commission:
Jesus entrusted His followers with the Great Commission, instructing us to make disciples of all nations. As students, we are part of this mission field right where we are. By sharing our faith, we actively participate in God’s redemptive work, contributing to the growth of His kingdom. Every conversation, act of kindness, and expression of faith can be used by God to draw people closer to Him.
Today, I encourage you to reflect on the choice you have made or the choice you are considering. Choose Jesus, for in Him you will find peace amidst chaos, joy amidst sorrow, and hope amidst despair. Choose Jesus, for He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Choose Jesus, for His love will transform your life and lead you to everlasting glory.
Leader Tip: Break into small groups or talk as a big group. Give 1-2 minutes per question, depending on your time.
Discussion Questions:
- How has your faith in Christ impacted your life, and how might sharing it impact the lives of others around you?
- What are some common barriers or fears that hinder students from sharing their faith? How can we overcome these obstacles?
- In what practical ways can you be a bold witness for Christ in your school or community? How can you use your gifts and talents to reflect His love and offer hope to those around you?
Invite Cards: Have Student Leaders pass out Invite Cards to students.
Before we leave Club, we’re going to take a moment to fill out the Invite Cards we provided. Make sure to write down all the details clearly so they’re ready to hand out. Once you’re done, use them to invite your friends and classmates to join us next time!
Give students a moment to fill out Invite Cards and ask any questions.
HOST | PRAYER TIME – 3 MINUTES (OR TIME REMAINING)
Take 2-3 minutes to allow students to share different prayer requests and pray for the needs of the students.
Spend a few minutes praying for next week. Pray specifically for students’ lives to be forever changed by the Good News of Jesus Christ!
Let’s close in prayer.
Closing prayer suggestion: Heavenly Father, Thank you for this time together. Strengthen us to boldly share our faith and be a light to those around us. Fill us with courage, wisdom, and love as we speak of you. We pray for anyone who comes for the first time next week—may they feel your presence and know they are deeply loved. Guide us as we go, and help us live out your truth each day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
HOST | ANNOUNCEMENTS – 1 MINUTE
Homework: Keep writing your Faith Story using the Faith Story Sheet. We have been using this all year to help each of us figure out what God has done in our lives – both when we first came to Jesus and when we have walked through the hard moments of life. We all have lots of stories of God moving in our lives, and writing it out helps us to remember and collect our thoughts. Even though this is the last PREPARE Week of the year, make sure you continue to work on your story so you can always be prepared to share!
Announcement suggestions:
- Share upcoming club events or special activities.
- Remind everyone about upcoming school breaks or schedule changes.
Leader Notes:
- Remember to file the report on this week’s Club numbers!
- Prepare for INVITE Week! Review the leader roles and keep everyone on the same page. Use the as an opportunity to recruit new leaders!
Club Coach Tip: PREPARE Week is coming up next month, and there will be an option for two students to share their Faith Stories. Watch for students who may be interested, and help them refine their testimonies outside of the Club so they’re confident when sharing.
