Sending an announcement to your area (push notification)

This article will show how to send a notification to everyone using the app.

It is important to know that people will only receive notifications if they have their notifications turned on in their device settings. If the settings are turned off, they will still see the notification, but only when they open the app.

1) Open the menu

On your phone or tablet, click on the menu icon at the top left of your screen. The menu button looks like three short horizontal lines.

2) Click “Send announcement”

In the window that opens, you will see two ways to focus your message to the right group you are trying to reach.

• Filter by…
  • You are given different ways to narrow down your message in this dropdown.
• Including roles:
  • In addition to the previous filter option, you can either select “All roles” or narrow down your message to only Area coordinators, Coaches, or Student Leaders. Select as many of these options as you would like.

Click “Continue” after making your filter selections.

3) Confirm your target audience

Once you click continue, you will be given a confirmation screen. The app will show you the number of people to whom your message will be sent. If that number sounds close to what you were expecting, then you should be good to go! If that number seems low or high, click “Back” to review your filter settings to ensure you get the right audience.

If you are happy with that number, click “Continue.”

4) Type your announcement

We’ve provided you with several ways to alter the appearance of your message. You can use bold words, bullet points, links, and more!

Type your message, and when you are ready to send it, click the “Send” button.
