EVANGELISM

Prepare Week

Reminder: Club time is designed to last 25-30 minutes. If your Club has less time, adapt the EPIC Guide to fit what your Club needs. Use the Holy Spirit’s guidance to discern what to cover.

Resources Needed: My Faith Story Sheet or other Gospel materials.

Verses to have ready: Romans 1:16 and Matthew 5:14-16.

Happening This Month: It’s the first month of the year! As we kick off the year, now is the perfect time to reflect on how God can use you this year to make a difference for His Kingdom. This week, we’ll focus on preparing to share the Gospel boldly and confidently. Let’s start strong by being intentional about encouraging others to encounter Jesus through our lives and stories!

Be sure to check out the calendar at the beginning of the EPIC Guide for any events that are coming up.

Key Takeaway: Sharing your faith story is a powerful way to shine the light of Christ in a world searching for hope. By reflecting on your journey—life before Christ, how you met Him, and the transformation He brought—you can confidently share the Gospel with others. As Matthew 5:14-16 reminds us, we are called to be bold witnesses, letting God’s light shine through us so others may come to know Him.

Student Leader Roles:

  • Promo – Promote the Club through social media, announcements, and any other outlets the school allows.
  • Welcome – Stand at the door and welcome students to the Club as they arrive. Be sure to connect any new students to the Club and leadership so they feel like they have a place.
  • Host – Start the Club with the Welcome, Prayer, Game (if applicable), and Memory Verse.
  • Speaker – Lead the Club through Tool Time, and Dig In, using the EPIC Guide, and any supporting materials.
  • Follow-up – Follow up with new (or newer) students, and students who accepted Christ for the first time or want to know more. This role requires follow-up every week, not just after INVITE Weeks.

HOST | STARTUP – 2 MINUTES

Welcome: Welcome to First Priority! We are so glad you’ve joined us today. Our focus this month is “Evangelism.” Today is PREPARE Week, where we will prepare our hearts and stories to boldly share the Gospel. Sharing our faith can seem intimidating, but God has equipped each of us with a story to tell that has the power to impact others for eternity. Let’s begin today with prayer.

Opening Prayer: God, thank you for bringing us together today at First Priority. Thank you for the gift of salvation and for the hope and purpose we’ve found in you. Please help us to prepare our hearts to boldly share the Gospel with others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Game – Optional (if time allows): Choose a game, video, or icebreaker. Select one that fits your group’s needs best! Click here to see the list of games available.

MEMORY VERSE: Romans 1:16 (NIV) – “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.”

SPEAKER | TOOL TIME – 10 MINUTES

Let’s spend some time preparing to do our part to reach our campus for Christ.

Learning to share your Story: Use the My Faith Story Sheet.

Leader Tip: Have Student Leaders hand out the My Faith Story Sheet.

During PREPARE Week, we’re equipping you to confidently share the Gospel with your peers through a simple tool designed to help you craft your Faith Story. This process focuses on three key moments: your life before Christ, how Jesus became part of your story, and your life with Him now.

Start by reflecting on your life before knowing Christ—what challenges, struggles, or sense of emptiness did you face?

Next, share how you encountered Jesus—whether it was through a person, a significant moment, or a personal realization. Finally, describe how your life has changed with Christ at the center—what’s different, and how has He transformed you? Use the handout to guide you as you write. Be authentic and keep the focus on Jesus. your story has the power to inspire someone to take their first step toward faith. Take a few moments to work through this—it’s amazing how God can use your journey to impact others!

Leader Tip: Give students time to work on and discuss their stories and have Student Leaders help those who may be new to this. Encourage students to practice sharing their stories with a friend in the Club. If time is limited, make sure students finish writing out their stories at home.

SPEAKER | DIG IN: BOLD WITNESS: SHARING YOUR FAITH – 8 MINUTES

Imagine holding a flashlight in a dark room filled with people searching for the way out. you could choose to keep the light for yourself, quietly making your way to safety. But wouldn’t it be better to shine it boldly, helping others find their way? That flashlight represents the Gospel, and God has entrusted us to shine His light in a dark world.

Matthew 5:14-16 (NIV)14 you are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

As believers, we are called to be bold witnesses for Christ. This means letting His light shine through our actions and words, so others can experience His love and truth. Today, we’ll explore why sharing our faith matters and how we can overcome fears or challenges to boldly reflect Christ in our schools, communities, and beyond.

Discussion Questions:

Leader Tip: Break into small groups or have a large group discussion based on Club size.

Give students 1-2 minutes per question based on Club time.

  1. What does it mean to “let your light shine before others,” and how can we do this in practical ways? (think Galatians 5:22-23) Showing peace during hard times? Showing patience in the face of hurry and stress? Speaking kindness to a bully? Etc.
  2. What fears or obstacles have kept you from sharing your faith in the past, and how can trusting God help you overcome them?
  3. Why do you think God uses our personal stories to share His Gospel? How can your story make an impact on someone else’s life?
  4. How can you be intentional this week about reflecting Christ’s love and sharing the Gospel with someone in your life?

Invite Cards: Have Student Leaders pass out Invite Cards to students.

Before we leave the Club, we’re going to take a moment to fill out the Invite Cards we provided. Make sure to write down all the details clearly so they’re ready to hand out. Once you’re done, use them to invite your friends and classmates to join us next time!

Give students a moment to fill out Invite Cards and ask any questions.

HOST | PRAYER TIME – 3 MINUTES (OR TIME REMAINING)

LEADER TIPS: Take 2-3 minutes to allow students to share different prayer requests and pray for the needs of the students.

Spend a few minutes praying for next week. Pray specifically for students’ lives to be forever changed by the Good News of Jesus Christ!

Closing prayer suggestion: Lord, thank you for giving each of us a unique story to share. Please give us the boldness and courage to reflect your love and truth this week. We pray for our friends who don’t know you yet. Use us to show them your light. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

HOST | ANNOUNCEMENTS – 1 MINUTE

Homework: keep writing your Faith Story using the Faith Story sheet. We will continue to come back to this sheet all year to help each of us figure out what God has done in our lives – both when we first came to Jesus and when we have walked through the hard moments of life. We all have lots of stories of God moving in our lives, we just don’t remember them well because we haven’t written them down yet. This is the start of writing down our Stories and allowing God to use them. If a story comes to mind, begin writing and talk to the Club Leadership about being one of the first ones to share at next month’s PREPARE Week.

Announcement suggestions:

  • Share upcoming Club events or special activities.
  • Remind everyone about upcoming school breaks or schedule changes.

Leader Notes: Remember to file the report on this week’s Club numbers!

Prepare for INVITE Week: Find one or two people willing to share their Faith Story. Use the guide at the beginning of this month, or the First Priority Club app, to keep leadership roles organized.

Club Coach Tip: Next month’s INVITE Week will have room for up to 2 students to share their Stories. Keep an eye out for students whose stories are developing, and coach them (outside of the Club) to ensure they’re prepared for next month to share.
